Five Facts From February, 2024

BeeLine is rooted in facts and data. It is the foundation from which everything I write is based.

Five facts from February's BeeLine posts and in my research during the past month that I  thought were particularly salient, surprising, or stupefying.

In a world in which opinions seem to be based more on feelings, emotions and prevailing narratives it might make sense to put more focus on straightforward facts, data and truths.

Consider these facts and data and consider the context they provide to the larger issues of our world today.

Illegal Immigration---Biden and Trump

Joe Biden and the Democrats are claiming that they can do nothing about the illegal immigration crisis at the border due to Republican inaction.

Somehow Donald Trump found a way to deal with those who were attempting to cross the border and claim asylum.

The truth is that the current border crisis was effectively created by Joe Biden.

Biden also has always had the power and authority (as Trump did) to restrict the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens from entering the country under the laws of the United States.

United States Population Increase

The United States just had its largest increase in population in one year in the nation's history.

The increase was not due to an increase in births. Births have been trending down for a number of years.

The increase was almost totally due to the number of illegal immigrants who entered the country over the last year.

3.2 million illegals were apprehended at the border and a substantial number of those were released into the country.

An untold number escaped detection altogether and are now living amidst us.

One respected expert put the increase in population in the last year at 3.8 million adding births minus deaths (.5 million) plus legal immigration (1.2 million)  plus illegal immigration (2.1 million).  That population increase estimate may actually be low.

How do you add almost 4 million people in one year to the population without creating enormous sustainability and societal problems?

You can't do it.

However, this is where we are.

Make no mistake, this is all the work of Joe Biden and the Democrats.

Islamophobia?

In 1990 there were 500,000 Muslims in the United States.

By 9/11/2001 that number had risen to 1.1 million.

Today that number has quadrupled to 4.5 million Muslims in America.

At the same time, the Christian population in Iraq has almost completely disappeared over the same period---from 1.5 million to 150,000.

To summarize, there are almost 10 times the number of Muslims in the U.S. today as there were in 1990.

However, there are only 10% of the Christians in Iraq today compared  to 20 years ago.

Islamophobia or Christianophobia?

Which is the bigger problem in the world today?

Of course, neither compares to the Anti-Semitism that is prevalent today.

Would it not be nice if everyone could just get along?

Defund the Police in Portland

Portland, Oregon was at the center of the defund the police and Black Lives Matter movement in 2020.

How has it all worked out for them?

Apparently not real well.

Self-Esteem

We hear so much about "white privilege" these days you would think that white people would have self-esteem that is off the charts.

You would also think that Blacks have the lowest self-esteem due to systemic racism.

However, the exact opposite is true based on the data.

It is also generally true that all races feel better and have warmer feelings about their own race than they do of others. This has probably been the case since the beginning of time since familiarity drives favorability in the human mind.

You see that fact in this chart which measures in-group bias by race/ethnicity.

However, there is one outlier---White liberals.

White liberals are the only group who views themselves worse than they do others.

They claim to feel more warmth to other races than they do to their own race.

Is white guilt more prevalent than white privilege?

The data suggests that is the case.
