Command and Cower

Early reactions on tonight's Presidential debate.

Two words describe the night for me.

Command...Governor Romney showed why he has been successful in everything he has ever done.  He is in command.  He was in command of the facts.  He was in command of where he believes the country needs to go.  He showed he is ready to be Commander-in-Chief.

Cower...President Obama seemed like someone that was cowering in the corner.  He kept looking down when Romney addressed him.  He did not make eye contact when he was challenged on his record.  He had very few facts and did not seem to lay a glove on Romney all night.

It is one debate and there is still more than a month to go.  However, Romney should get a boost from tonight's performance.

The big advantage for Romney in this debate is that people saw him up close and personal for who he really is.  Forget the 30-second attack ads that make him sound like an out of touch rich guy.  People saw tonight how he became successful and rich.  He knows what he is doing.  He is smart and he is a leader that will be in command of what has to be done.

The other advantage Romney will get is that he will get a reprieve from the relentless negative media bias that he has to fight every day.  Tonight's performance will turn media attention on Obama for awhile.  Why was he off his game?  Why was he afraid to look Romney in the eye?  Why did he have so few facts?  Was his poor performance due to the fact that he is so seldom challenged by the media?  Does he rely so much on the teleprompter that he is lost without it?
