I have no idea what Donald Trump will say in his Inauguration speech today.
I also don't know exactly what actions and issues that Trump will focus on right out of the gate.
However, my guess is that we may hear the words "Common Sense Revolution" to describe the Trump agenda in the early days of his second term in office.
We will most likely see Trump working at a frenetic pace on what he wants to accomplish.
We will also hear the words common sense connected to what he wants to focus on.
To me, "Common Sense Revolution" is a perfect overarching theme to describe to the American people what Trump is embarking on as he takes office.
It is a great catchphrase to describe that Trump intends to introduce rapid change compared to what we have experienced over the last four years.
Trump used the words about a month ago in a speech at Turning Point's American Fest convention.

What can we expect to see in the early days of Trump's second term?
Nothing should come as a surprise.
As I have written before in these pages, more so than any politician in my lifetime, Trump has governed exactly like he ran. There was no bait and switch. He did not run saying one thing and then did something else as President. He did what he said he was going to do.
We should expect the same in his second term.
What has Trump said he will do?
Let's go back and look at the 2024 Republican Party platform that was put together by the Trump team for the RNC Convention last summer.
What was the overarching theme?---A Return to Common Sense.

Let's look at a few of the statements in that platform to better understand what Trump sees as key pillars of "The Common Sense Revolution".
Immigration
Common Sense tells us clearly, in President Trump's words, that "If we don't have a Border, we don't have a Country." Restoring sensible Border Security and Immigration Policy requires many steps, all of which would have been and indeed were taken for granted by prior Generations as obviously necessary and good. We must secure our Southern Border by completing the Border Wall that President Trump started.
We must also vigilantly check those who enter our Country by other routes and ensure that no one can enter our Country who does not have the Legal Right to do so, and we must deport the millions of illegal Migrants who Joe Biden has deliberately encouraged to invade our Country. We will start by prioritizing the most dangerous criminals and working with local Police. We must not allow Biden's Migrant Invasion to alter our Country. It must not stand. Under the Trump Administration and a Republican Congress, it will be defeated immediately.
The Economy
Common Sense tells us clearly that if we don't have Domestic Manufacturing with low Inflation, not only will our Economy—and even our Military Equipment and Supplies—be at the mercy of Foreign Nations, but our Towns, Communities, and People cannot thrive. The Republican Party must return to its roots as the Party of Industry, Manufacturing, Infrastructure, and Workers. President Trump's economic policy to end Inflation and return Manufacturing Jobs is not only what the American Economy and American Workers need right now, it is also what they want right now.
Energy
Common Sense tells us clearly that we must unleash American Energy if we want to destroy Inflation and rapidly bring down prices, build the Greatest Economy in History, revive our Defense Industrial Base, fuel Emerging Industries, and establish the United States as the Manufacturing Superpower of the World. We will DRILL, BABY, DRILL and we will become Energy Independent, and even Dominant again.
Defense
Common Sense tells us clearly that if we don't have a Strong Military, we won't be able to defend our interests and we will be at the mercy of Hostile Nations. The Policy of the Republican Party must be to ensure that America's Military is the strongest and best-equipped in the World—and that our Government uses that great strength sparingly, and only in clear instances where our National Interests are threatened.
Equal Treatment for All
Common Sense tells us clearly that the Republican Party must stand for Equal Treatment for All. Likewise, the Republican Party must ensure the equal application of law to all regardless of political affiliation or personal beliefs. Recent Democrat-led political persecutions threaten to destroy 250 years of American Principle and Practice and must be stopped.
This is a bullet list of 20 specific action items from that GOP platform that we should also expect to be major parts of Trump's Common Sense Revolution.
It remains to be seen how successful Trump will be in carrying out his Common Sense Revolution.
However, Trump clearly is in a much better position to accomplish his objectives than he was entering in his first term.
He won a convincing electoral vote victory, he has a popular vote mandate and the opposition he faces from the mainstream media, the deep state and other members of his own party is a fraction of what it was in 2017.
Trump has also learned a lot in the eight years since he last swore the oath of office of the President of the United States.
Most importantly, Trump is enjoying the highest approval ratings of his political career.
He has a +14 net favorability rating as he enters office.
60% of Americans also say that they are optimistic about the next four years with Trump as President.
What is interesting about this question is that young voters (18-29 years old) are the most optimistic about Trump.
This is a total reversal of what young people thought of Trump four and eight years ago.
At the same time, the Democrat party is seeing its lowest approval ratings dating back to 1992.
In many respects the Democrats are in disarray.
They threw everything they could at Trump---the Russian collusion hoax, impeachments, indictments and all the rest---and he came out of it more popular than ever.
Why is the polling data important?
Without the popular support of the American people it is very difficult to push any revolution or change forward.
And at least right now, Trump has popular support for some of his most controversial policies.
A recent NYT/Ipsos poll had the following results on some of the issues that make up his Common Sense Revolution.
88% support deporting illegals with criminal records
56% support deporting all illegal immigrants
79% oppose transgender athletes competing in female sports
71% oppose puberty blockers for minors with gender dysphoria
60% believe the federal government is almost always wasteful and inefficient
Will common sense make a comeback in the United States?
Will we see a revolution of it over the nest four years?
We shall see.
Polls can be misleading when taken before the heavy lifting starts and the media onslaught begins. We will see where the surveys are when the narrative begins about how cruel Trump is in deporting people, how inhumane he is to transgenders and how callous he is in requiring federal employees to report to the office for work.
However, revolutions are never easy and often messy.
Revolutions are won with leaders who are not afraid to challenge the status quo and are unwilling to surrender.
Trump has proven in the past that he has those qualities
If anything, he is more committed and capable to withstand the battles ahead than ever before.
Let the Common Sense Revolution begin!
