This is a headline that I saw last week that I found interesting.
An Army major and his wife committing treason?
Of course, in this day and age headlines often do not tell the whole story.
I read further.
The Army major was a doctor as well.
The Army major doctor was also apparently a woman.
Therefore, it was actually a gay couple who were conspiring to give U.S. military medical information to the Russians.
I continued to read.
The Army doctor had a secret security clearance at Fort Bragg.
The wife worked at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.
The Army doctor was actually transgender having the distinction of being the first Army officer to come out as such in 2015.

There used to be a time when it would have been impossible for someone with the background of Major Jamie Lee Henry to get any type of security clearance.
That clearly is not the case today.
What I found particularly interesting in the details of the case was that Major Henry did not seem to have great concerns about passing classified information to the Russians but was concerned about violating HIPAA. His? Her? wife had no such concerns. She told that FBI undercover agent he? she? was a "coward" but she would bring him? her? around.
Henry had some reservations about providing healthcare data, saying it would violate the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), according to the indictment, but Gabrielian had no hesitations.
In a subsequent Aug. 24 meeting, she told the agent her husband was a "coward" to be concerned about violating HIPAA, but she broke the law "all the time" and would ensure they could provide Russia with access to medical records from Fort Bragg patients.
By the end of the month, she had handed over information on current and former military officials and their spouses, the indictment says.
What type of moral compass does one have to possess in order to have no qualms in passing classified information to the Russians but have reservations about violating HIPAA?
Do you think something is askew somewhere?
Beyond the obvious, I also found it interesting that both doctors are part of the Millennial generation.
Henry is 39. Gabrielian is 36.
I have a couple of Millennial children myself so I don't want to overgeneralize but how is it that there are an inordinate number of people of this age (and younger) who don't seem to appreciate the United States of America and what made it great?
Consider these results from a 2019 poll.
36% of Millennials in America have a favorable view of communism. Just 7% of Baby Boomers do.
22% of Millennials believe that all private property should be abolished. 21% are not sure. 96% of the Silent Generation say NO in answer to this question.
70% of Millennials in this poll stated they were somewhat or extremely likely to vote for a political candidate who identifies as a socialist. It is half that for Baby Boomers (that is scary in itself).
This final poll question from 2019 pretty well summarizes how much credibility one should place on the opinions of not only Millennials but the public at large.
At a minimum, it shows how much influence big media has on the views of the masses.
These were the results for a question asked of all adults on who was the biggest threat to world peace.
You can be sure the results were skewed by the answers of Millennials.
Donald Trump was the biggest threat to world peace?
Bigger than Kim Jong-un, Xi Jinping....and PUTIN!
It makes you wonder whether something was introduced into the water supply (or the education system) over the last 40 years doesn't it?
Treason is fine, just don't violate HIPAA?
That Army major and these poll results don't give me much hope for the future.
If those Millennials and the Gen Z generation don't wake up soon and smell the coffee they are going to quickly find how wrong they were, not just about Donald Trump being a bigger threat to world peace than Putin, but about a lot of other things they "believe".
Lest anyone think this is just a conservative view, consider what noted liberal Bill Maher had to say about some of the ideas of young people on his show last year.
As you might expect from Maher, it is profane with a touch of humor thrown in.
View this video clip with that in mind. (Click here if the video does not play in your browser.)
Treason is fine but you don't want to violate HIPAA?
God help us!
